Issue:            RESTORE NONRECURRING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES LEADING TO EMPLOYMENT

Justification
Governor's Recommendations 2022-23
The Governor's Budget Recommendation for Fiscal Year 2022-23 includes the restoration of $2,000,000 in funding to continue funding the reimbursement for workers' compensation insurance premiums as authorized in section 446.54, Florida Statutes. School districts and Florida College System institutions are considered employers of students 18 years of age or younger when they are participating in unpaid work-based learning opportunities. As such, school districts and colleges must cover these students under their workers' compensation insurance programs. These funds are used to reimburse the districts and colleges for the proportionate share of the costs of workers' compensation insurance premiums needed to provide workers' compensation coverage for eligible students.
