Justification
Governor's Recommendations 2022-23
The Governor's Budget Recommendation for Fiscal Year 2022-23 includes $117,372 in nonrecurring budget authority in the
Land Acquisition Trust Fund and the Historical Resources budget entity for Historic Preservation Grants (Small-Matching
Historic Preservation Grants). This is in addition to the $1,500,000 already in the base. The Small-Matching Historic
Preservation Grants are awarded annually for architectural and archeological surveys and planning, State Historical
Markers, National Register nominations, and heritage education projects such as brochures, interpretive signage,
websites, and school programs. The award amounts are up to $50K and are funded top-down at full request until the
appropriation is depleted. No organization may receive more than $1.5M in this program from the Department of State
during a consecutive five state fiscal year period. The FY 2022-23 list identifies 46 projects for a total of $1,617,372.
